1.5 Stars

The only rewarding thing about Nothing But Trouble is marveling at just how bad it is on every level.

The movie is completely free of laughs. I’m not sure I even smiled.

The story is somehow utterly bizarre and uninteresting at the same time. I’m not sure how writer/director Dan Aykroyd accomplished this.

The props and enormous built sets and elaborate costuming and makeup effects are as distracting as they are impressive. The fact that Warner Bros. gave Aykroyd $45 million for this bullshit is incredible. As you watch it, you’re astounded at how much effort must have gone into this thing for nothing in return. Absolutely nothing.

Nothing But Trouble is a fiasco.

And I suppose that is what makes it worth watching. Watch the man who co-wrote Ghostbusters waste $45 million and completely whiff in his attempt to create a high concept, elaborately adorned comedy a la Beetlejuice.

It stinks.

But you might want to check it out.
